More and more private companies are looking to enhance their historical heritage. Through the care they take with their ancient documents, they communicate their values and their history.<\/p>\n

SOFPO was the first factory in Europe to produce corrugated board, and it is still operating on the historic site today.<\/p>\n In 1888, the first corrugated cardboard manufacturing plant in France was established in Exideuil-sur-Vienne, in Charente. From the 1920s onwards, the Rossmann family developed packaging activities across France, and acquired the production site in Exideuil-sur-Vienne in 1979. At the end of the 1990s, the group expanded into Africa and Europe. Titled “Grand Livre N\u00b02\u201d (General Ledger No. 2), it measures 59x44cm and weighs several dozen kilos!<\/p>\n This type of document was widely used in French businesses in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is decorated with cold-pressed framing fillets on the boards and a cold-pressed roll decoration on the edges and endpapers. The spine and boards contain metal elements (bosses), some of which are oxidised. A green leather headband is present and partially torn, and the hinges of the endpapers are also locally torn.<\/p>\n The first intervention involved careful cleaning, followed by restoration steps<\/a> mainly concerning the binding: filling in the lacunas, meticulous cleaning of the metallic elements, and consolidating the headband and endpapers.
